Asa Miyogadani – a cosy female only guest house in central Tokyo!

Miyogadani is a small station on the subway Marunochi line) located between the stations Ikebukuro and Korakuen.

Going there is quite easy with the big Ikebukuro station as transfer point.

The neighbourhood of Miyogadani is convenient, clean and silent – only during rush hours it can become quite busy, but overall the area around the station is nice and calm.

Major Universities can be found close to the station – the Atomi University, the Ochanimozu University, the Takushoku University and the Tsukuba University, Bunkyo Campus. The north of the residential area is laden with parks and green belts which is quite rare for such a central neighbourhood. Just two stations from Ikebukuro, you can always explore more of Tokyo by taking the green Yamanote line!

But what does Miyogadani mean? ??? My?gadani means ginger valley. ?? my?ga – Japanese ginger. ? tani – valley.

There is no proof of Japanese ginger growing in this area, instead a theory claims that the name comes from ?? – my?ga a Buddhist term that means “divine protection”. However, if you decide to move to Myogadani and you will be able to find some ginger, let us know! Because living at Miyogadani can be a really nice experience!

Since March 2014 a new guest house opened on the 3th floor of a 10th storied building just 3 walk minutes away from the station. We had the chance to visit the guest house today and met the owner of the property. We also talked to a tenant, who is staying at the guest house for a while and who really enjoys her life in Tokyo. What she loved most about the property is the privacy you got in your own rooms, but also the possibility to talk to your flat mates, when you feel lonely. The cleanliness and the convenience of the surrounding area also convinced her to stay at Asa Miyogadani. I was also impressed by the nice atmosphere of the apartment, so let me tell you about it a bit more.

We walked 3 minutes through the rain to the guest house, recognizing a newly opened Natural Lawson convenient store next to the building. However, in front of the building there were lots of vending machines with cheap drinks, too.

We entered the building and headed to the third floor. The apartment has a number key and is female only. To provide the safe and quiet environment, male guests are not allowed to enter the Asa Myogadani premises, unless you have a very special permission from the management, which does not include male family members visiting Tokyo.

The kitchen is full of cute details!

The Japanese entrance was nice and neat – a professional cleaning service provided twice a week helps to keep the whole apartment in a good shape. The cleaning service is included in your rent.

In total, there are 14 rooms out of which 13 are private and 1 shared for 2 room mates.

For your comfort, all rooms are fully furnished. Throughout the house there is Wi-Fi internet and television service available. This service is also included in your rent.

In your private room you will find a bed with bedding, a desk and chair, a mini refrigerator, a TV, storage space for your clothes, a standing mirror and your room will have a window. The combination of white walls and a wooden floor provides a cosy atmosphere.

This could be your new room!

The big, bright kitchen offers you anything you need for cooking a delicious meal. Pots, fry pans, forks, knifes and cups can be found and even a microwave, a mini toaster and a rice cooker are available. You will have enough space in a big drawer to storage your personal belongings or your kitchen ware. A freezer next to the kitchen counter can be used for your ice cream storage.

As the Asa Myogadani can accommodate 16 ladies, the morning and evening hours in the bathroom might get crowded. But no worries! There are 3 bathrooms, 2 shower rooms and 2 spacious sink areas to brush your teeth and do the make-up. Showers can be used for 15 minutes, per 100 Yen for hot water. The sink areas are separated and also the toilets can be found in an extra room. Everything is kept in a nice pink colour – since this is a ladies only apartment.

The apartment is equipped with coin-laundry machines which you can use for 200 Yen at anytime. On warm summer days you can sit outside on the balcony next to the kitchen or hang your laundry outside for drying.

Ms. Yamaguchi, the manager of the facility, welcomed us today and we had the chance to talk with her about Asa Miyogadani.

She is always willing to help her tenants, so never hesitate to ask for help!

Owner of the Asa Myogadani Guest house, Mr. Kumar, states that the beautiful Myogadani area, should provide a peaceful and safe living for females moving to this guest house. Providing a secure and relaxing environment is the main intention of the house owner.

The guest house floor is secured by a 24 hour surveillance camera and an outlook operated via security code on the entrance door.
