A survey shows during the fiscal year that ended in March foreign visitors spent about 13 percent less money in Tokyo than the previous year.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government conducted the survey at Haneda and Narita airports.
The results show that per-capita spending in Tokyo was estimated at around 132,000 yen, or about 1,200 dollars. That's down 13 percent from the previous year. Tokyo officials attribute the decline to the trend of Chinese visitors becoming reluctant to spend as much.
