Animate Girls Festival 2026 First Visit Guide

Plan AGF in Ikebukuro on November 7–8: main-hall tickets versus stage viewing, face-photo requirements, prices and a Japanese fan’s experience.

Animate Girls Festival 2026 takes place in Ikebukuro on November 7–8. Its main exhibition halls require a ticket; viewing the open stage at Sunshine City’s Fountain Square does not require that main-hall ticket. Start with what you want to do—visit particular booths, watch a stage programme, or discover something unfamiliar—because those choices have different admission rules.

AGF brings together anime, comics, voice actors, character merchandise, games and cosplay, with a focus on women-oriented fandom. Its 2026 theme is Decoration. For a first visit, a small plan built around one interest can give the day more shape than a long shopping list. Official introduction

Quick answers

When and where is AGF2026? Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, at Sunshine City and other Ikebukuro locations. Main-hall hours are 09:00–17:00, with new entry ending 16:30 and final entry to individual areas 16:50. Your ticket sets your own admission time. All times here are JST. Official venue overview

Can I turn up and buy a main-hall ticket at the venue? No. There are no main-hall on-site ticket sales. Buy through the official ticket links and complete the requirements for your ticket type before going. Ticket information

Do I need face registration? For fast, general and afternoon electronic tickets, yes: the organizer requires a MOALA account with the attendee’s face photograph registered in advance. Evening tickets are the exception: they are paper tickets issued at 7-Eleven, with no face authentication. Electronic-ticket instructions

Can I watch a stage without entering the halls? Yes. The open stage is at Fountain Square, Alpa B1, with advertised hours 10:20–20:00 each day. Free viewing is subject to space and crowd restrictions. The seated priority area requires a separate participation ticket whose distribution rules vary by programme. A main-hall ticket does not itself reserve a stage seat. Official stage rules

Choose between a booth visit and a stage visit

The main venue spans several exhibition halls. Red and Blue Areas are in World Import Mart Building, 4F, Hall A; Green, White and Yellow Areas are in Bunka Kaikan Building, Halls B–D. A favourite title’s booth is a more useful starting point than treating the entire complex as one room. Use the official booth directory and that exhibitor’s own notices to find its location and participation rules.

For a booth-focused day, decide which one or two experiences matter most. A purchase, a display photograph and an interaction can involve different conditions. Hall admission gives you access to the event, rather than a guarantee of merchandise, a booth time slot or a particular encounter.

For a stage-focused day, begin with the programme and its viewing conditions. The free viewing area surrounds an atrium that other Sunshine City customers also use. The organizer asks people not to save places with bags, obstruct passages or camp overnight. Photography and recording are generally prohibited unless a stage explicitly announces a permitted period. These rules make an open commercial space quite different from a reserved theatre seat. Stage guidance

If you want to combine the two, check your assigned hall-entry time against the stage you hope to see. Leave room to move between locations; do not build a plan that depends on walking straight into every queue.

What the ticket choices change

The official price chart and current ticket page distinguish the following options. Prices below are advertised admission prices, including tax; check the seller’s full purchase total and conditions.

Main-hall ticketAdvertised priceEntry and format
General¥1,800Assigned admission within the 10:00–13:00 entry period; electronic ticket with face registration
Afternoon¥1,000Assigned admission within the 13:00–15:00 entry period; electronic ticket with face registration
Evening¥800; ¥1,000 for purchases from November 7 at 00:00Assigned admission within the 15:00–16:00 entry period; 7-Eleven paper ticket, no face authentication

Seller details: general, afternoon and evening.

The ¥3,000 fast-ticket lotteries have already closed; their earlier entry is not a currently open lottery option. For the remaining categories, gathering times and entry slots are assigned rather than freely selected. Check the issued ticket, not just the broad period in the table. Official prices, schedules and seller links

General secondary sales are advertised through November 6, 23:59. Afternoon sales close the day before the relevant visit; evening sales are advertised until 16:00 on the relevant event day, unless sold out earlier. An advertised sales window or a seller page marked as accepting applications does not establish remaining tickets. Check the current listing before making travel plans.

The electronic route uses CLUB animate and MOALA account linking. It requires an internet-connected smartphone on the day; the published instructions say that no separate app installation is needed. They also state that a registered face photograph cannot be changed for one year. Read those instructions before setting up the accounts. The evening paper-ticket route has different steps and does not require membership registration or login for purchase. Registration and display instructions, evening-ticket terms

What one Japanese fan found rewarding

In a November 15, 2025 report, later updated January 7, 2026, say(せい)of せいゆう部Log describes visiting AGF2025 with her sister after preparing booth locations and ticket applications. They managed their own priorities, while noticing queues and unavailable items elsewhere. That contrast is useful: one manageable visit does not describe conditions at every booth.

Their enjoyment also included small expressions of attachment. The sisters put Angelique character cards in their phone cases to support a related game series, even though they felt nobody else noticed. At the booth for PLAVE, a Korean virtual idol group, say describes feeling intimidated by a fan quiz as a newcomer, then successfully taking part. These are her experiences of 2025, not promised activities or crowd conditions for 2026. Her firsthand account, in Japanese

The account suggests a broader way to think about the day. Buying something is one possible pleasure; showing affection for a character or discovering how to participate in a new fandom can matter too. Your priority need not match the busiest-looking booth. If carrying a small character companion appeals to you, our nuikatsu guide explores that practice through other Japanese experiences.

Make the day practical

Before leaving, save your assigned gathering instructions and check your chosen exhibitors’ latest notices. For electronic tickets, confirm that you can display the ticket and connect to the internet. Foreign nationals are instructed to use the alphabetic name shown on their official identification when applying; read the organizer’s identity-check rules rather than improvising a nickname. Official FAQ

The same FAQ says there is no luggage-storage service inside the main venue and excludes large rolling luggage, with exceptions for specified assistive equipment. Plan baggage storage before arriving. Wheelchair entry is permitted, with staff directing visitors to lifts between areas. Those are separate considerations from whether a particular booth or viewing position suits your needs.

For a first visit, write down one priority, one optional second stop and what you will do if either is unavailable. Allow time for food outside the main halls, where eating is prohibited. Check language information for the specific programme; the organizer’s email support is Japanese-only, and an English event listing does not establish English-language assistance throughout the event.
