Japan will ban the gaijin smash in preparation for an influx of foreigners coming to Tokyo for the 2020 Olympic Games.

Authorities have predicted traffic chaos in the nation’s capital with recent congestion simulations featuring a number of foreigners exercising their gaijin smashes to walk across the road at any location and at any time – even when there is a little red man signal.

The gaijin smash prohibition aims to curtail an expected increase in jay-walking during the Olympic Games.

“All foreigners will be forced to take full responsibility for their actions,” says Tokyo City official Daigo Enamoto.

“Even the ones living here on long-term visas.”

Foreign residents will be given regular work duties ahead of the Olympics equivalent to their local colleagues.

“They will also be expected to work double overtime like everyone else.”
