New Shinjuku bus terminal open!

From today, April 4, the new bus terminal close the Shinjuku station’s south exit is open for travelers!

People preferring high way buses to go through Japan, can access the new bus terminal in a

short walking distance from the station.

The new expressway bus terminal is connected to the Koshu-kaido gate and across the street from the south gate.
  • 1 min walk from JR South Exit
  • 10 min walk from JR West Exit
  • 5 min walk from Toei Oedo Line, Keio New line Exit 3
  • 5 min walk from Toei Oedo Line, Keio New line Exit 5
  • 10 min walk from Marunouchi Line Exit A12/A14
  • 1 min walk from Odakyu Line South Exit
  • 10 min walk from Keio Line
Please keep in mind:
The MIRAINA TOWER Gate, New South Gate and South East Gate are NOT recommended as exit, as it is far from the bus terminal!
For the new terminal, the transport ministry has spent about 70 billion yen to set up a huge complex, which is supposed to be easier accessible for foreigners.

From now on, the terminal is expected to have the most arrivals and departures in the whole country. This morning, at 4 am the first bus left the new terminal departing to Haneda airport and from now on 118 operators which run express bus services will start their service to 39 prefectures in Japan.

The bus companies expect 1600 departures and arrivals each day.

Clerks dressed in Kimono will provide help in Japanese, Chinese and English.

The facility is equipped with multiple escalators, four elevators and a large waiting room that can accommodate travelers with heavy luggage.

The third floor features a tourist information in several languages.
