These are traditional patterns, so Japanese people have seen them everywhere. The artist has carved them nicely into the vegetables.

I am now following this account thanks to that Dragon Ball on a banana! This is so cool! I didn't even know you could do something like this. I guess it is like soap carving in a sense... But with veggies!
