East Japan Railway's new luxury sleeper train has departed on its first journey from Tokyo.

The 10-car "Train Suite Shiki-shima" left Ueno Station carrying 33 passengers on Monday.

It will travel around the eastern and northern regions of the country.

The fees for the 4-day tour range from about 6,700 dollars to just over 10,000 dollars per person.
