Hayabusa Starts Sending Photos www3.nhk.or.jp

Japan's space agency says its probe Hayabusa-2 has successfully captured images of asteroid Ryugu for the first time. The asteroid, located between Earth and Mars, is the probe's destination.

Officials at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency said on Thursday that the probe sent the images while traveling about 300 million kilometers from Earth.

The images show Ryugu gleaming white in the sunlight.
