A new Japanese phrase has been invented for summer cleverly crafted through the combination of the words “hot” and “summer”.
The phrase encapsulates both the pleasure of informing people it’s hot, but also that it’s hot because it’s summer.
“Natsui ne,” 22-year-old gaijin Jarod Taylor said to a stranger this week.
People have been automatically responding to the phrase “Natsui ne” with “Soudesune” before thinking they’ve been had or that it must be some kind of gaijin error.
Taylor now can’t stop saying “Natsui ne”.
