Japanese business and labor leaders are close to a final agreement on limiting worker's overtime hours.

The Japan Business Federation, or Keidanren, and the country's largest labor organization, Rengo, have been in talks to draw up an agreement on overtime limits. The discussions are in line with a government plan to introduce overtime rules that carry penalties.

I think it is a good thing. I imagine that the issue is more complicated than that and cannot be resolved with simple overtime ban. But work stress in Japan is something extraordinary - I am judging from the number of suicides and just overwork related deaths.

I agree! I hear of it all too often that people in Japan work themselves into a grave. Allowing overtime is fine but making it have a limit looks out for the well being of the work force. Japan is one of the hardest working countries in the world... no one the stress levels are just as high.
