Event to taste various types of jam in Komoro www3.nhk.or.jp

Jam-lovers tried out many varieties of the fruit spread at a promotional event in the central Japanese city of Komoro on Sunday.

Komoro in Nagano Prefecture is said to be the birthplace of strawberry jam in Japan.

Visitors tasted about 100 different types of jam made from strawberries, apples, and others fruits. There was also jam made from green tea.

Nagano prefecture boasts lots of fruit and vegetables, and also dairy products. It has a milder summer due to high altitude, too. While Komoro is a bit cold at this time of the year, the event is a great chance to get an idea of the variety of jams here.
