"Japan Travel SIM" cards sold at Yodobashi camera offer a wide range of prices from 1,500 yen up, with 1.0 GB and above. 3GB at 3000 yen seems the popular plan, butI haven't seen anything that beats the Mobal.com unlimited plans. Mobile Wi-fi modem by Rakuten mobile seems a good option, with unlimited bandwidth, but that is about 7500 yen for two months. The coverage for the small providers is not a big issue, they basically rent bandwidth from NTT docomo who has the bast national coverage.
