I just read about this coffee machine that can be controlled by an app to both make coffee and monitor coffee usage.

Are such gadgets popular in ordinary households?

I have seen a bathroom scales that send the weight data to the phone, at a friend's place. It could also post to Twitter, but yhe owner was a girl and she never wanted to use that feature.
