What do Japanese thing about current US elections?

I am yet to see one. They are more like "what kind of politicians do they have now?"

His claim that he is going to "make Japan pay for having troops here" probably made him even more unpopular. The truth is that the Japanese government is in fact paying a huge amount for that. And there is a heavy social cost, too. One of the marines was arrested yesterday for a hit and run case yesterday, and the victim is still unconscious. Rape and assault cases by the marines are common in Okinawa.

One of my friends joked that if he is elected and asks for more money, resulting in a troops withdrawal, that would be great. But he was just kidding.
