The number of foreigners employed in Japan rose above 1 million for the first time last year, growing for the fourth year in a row as the government tries to alleviate labor shortages and secure fresh talent.

Labor ministry data showing foreign employment as of October 2016 is due out soon. It is expected to show an increase of roughly 100,000 from the year-earlier 908,000.

Those are insane numbers! I am not sure how you can work around this. Certainly there are plenty of jobs around but with more and more teens becoming adults, and more foreign workers entering the job field.. It just sounds like it is going to be hard. Japan is just a hot place to live and work these days so I can't blame people for wanting to be there but they need to consider the natives.

I think a lot of areas have issues with foreign workers. Japan is just one of those places that fascinate many people around the world. I know so many people who have asked me about living there. I was born in the US, as were my parents, but my family is from Japan. It is a beautiful place.
