What are some good tips to survive Japan's summer?

Summer in Japan is not just hot, but also humid. This makes it much more uncomfortable than summer whether in Salt Lake City, where the temperatures are much higher but the overall feeling is better because of low humidity.

Other than for staying at home with air-condidiotning the whole day:-p, what are good ways to survive this?
