Smartphones have spread rapidly in Japan in recent years, but there still seems to be strong demand for feature phones, or so-called “Galapagos” phones, according to recent data.
I still use a "Gala Keitai" (Galapagos Mobile Phone), because the data plans are outrageously expensive and I am within reach of an Internet connection most of the time. The plans for these old phones are much more attractive, particularly so for senior citizens. comment
