Sound of wind chimes keeps train passengers cool www3.nhk.or.jp

Train passengers in eastern Japan are keeping cool to the sound of wind chimes.

Every summer, Jomo Electric Railway hangs 100 wind chimes along the ceiling of a 2-car train that runs between 2 cities in Gunma Prefecture.

Local residents and students write short poems and traffic safety slogans on strips of paper that are attached to each chime.

I like these cool ideas from the rural train lines. They operate on low margins, so they try to be creative and attract some people to travel, and also make travel more fun for the regulars.
