Airbnb Inc.'s co-founder vowed Thursday to bolster its home-rental business in Japan even under stricter local regulations and rules, on the eve of the implementation of new legislation on private lodging business.

"We welcome a new clear rule and will take a number of initiatives to educate and help our hosts get registered to comply with the legislation," Nathan Blecharczyk, co-founder and chief strategy officer of the U.S. home-rental service giant, told a press conference in Tokyo.
