Ramen Tour - This Kyoto secret ramen shop is hidden in a ichijoji. Ichijoji is located in the north part of Kyoto, not so famous as a tourist spot but people who live in the Kansai area gather here for delicious secret ramen shops. In today's ramen guide, we’re eating at Menya Gokkei a hidden ramen shop in Kyoto. This hidden Japanese ramen shop has extremely-creamy chicken base ramen, and you can choose from the standard soup, a spicy red pepper or burnt garlic oil version. You can add an egg & rice set to it for an extra 200 yen. Or super-size the rame bowl for 100 yen or you can or do both and get a super sized ramen bowl + egg & rice set. As for toppings, you can a Raw Egg, Boiled Marinated Egg, Onion, Bamboo Shoots, or chashu. Gokkei's Signature Toridaku Creamy Chicken Base Ramen. I got bit excited and decided to add extra chashu topping making the bowl look like meat sunflower. And at the center a healthy helping of thinly shredded spring onions, a few scallions on the side and flaked with a tiny bit of chili pepper for flavor. Underneath it all, a set of noodles that are specially ordered from Menya Teigaku, which has been busy delivering noodles to popular ramen shops since 1931. These specific noodles are made thin and hard so it doesn’t blend too much with the dense chicken-based soup.
