Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony 2019, 19th Oct–20th Oct, 2019 tokyocheapo.com

Taking place at Hamarikyu Gardens—one of Tokyo’s most beautiful classical gardens—this event is a showcase of one of Japan’s unique cultural assets – the tea ceremony.
This isn’t just for enthusiasts, the idea seems to be to make it as accessible as possible with both indoor tea ceremonies (in the famed tea house in the middle of a salt water pond) and outdoor ceremonies.
To attend an outdoor ceremony (to get a cushion in the viewing area) it costs ¥300 for adults while kids of primary school age or under get in for free.
There are full ceremonies held in the teahouse for ¥700 but these require advance reservation in a lottery system before August 31st.
In case you can’t participate in this one, there is a similar event a little earlier in the month (October 5th and 6th) at the Open Air Architectural Museum.
