The new section of the Kyoto City Kyocera Museum of Art was added to the northeast part of the main building.
The public museum, previously called Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art, was built in 1933 and has been under renovation since January last year.
After reopening on March 21, 2020, the museum will hold an exhibition looking back on 250 years of art history in Kyoto.
