TOKYO -- A Tokyo man tried today to commit hara-kiri at the shrine honoring Japan's war dead, imitating the ritual suicide 10 years ago of famous Japanese author Yukio Mishima, police said.
'Long live the teacher, Yukio Mishima,' Yokozawa wrote in a note found near his bleeding form, police said.
I apologize for profaning the premises' of the shrine.
Yokozawa was reported in serious condition at a hospital.
Police said he carried a calling card listing him asa member of the 'Organization to Lament the Fate of the Country,' of the 'Yukio Mishima Research Group' and of the 'Society to Promote the Return of the Four Northern Islands.'
