KYODO NEWS - 19 minutes ago - 14:52 | All, JapanSuntory Spirits Ltd. will sell 100 bottles of long-aged single malt whisky that has been maturing since at least 1964 for 3 million yen ($27,500) each.
The 700-milliliter bottles of 55-year-old Yamazaki will be the most expensive offering in the beverage company's product lineup.
Prospective buyers will be able to apply online from Wednesday to Feb. 14, with bottles shipped to people randomly selected from June 30.
The Suntory release comes at a time when constant shortages of unblended whisky are being experienced due to rising demand for the Japanese products.
Suntory has sold 50-year-old Yamazaki, another vintage brand, in limited quantities on three occasions from 2005 to 2011 for 1 million yen per bottle.
