Tokiwa-sō is a boarding house where a number of aspiring young manga artists, led by the famed Tezuka Osamu (creator of “Astro Boy”), roomed in the 1960s. Chronicled in their works, Tokiwa-sō lived on in the hearts of manga fans even after its demolition in 1982. Now, this legendary cradle of comics culture has been re-created as the Toshima City Tokiwa-sō Manga Museum.
