Most foreigners make this an opportunity to try wearing a Yukata. The wooden slippers are not that comfortable, though, since there is a long walk to any fireworks venue from the nearest station.

I was one of these foreigners once :) There was one time that I spent two months in Japan (July and August). I must say that because of the heat it was not the most pleasant experience of Japan, but the hanabi events were among the highlights of my summer!

Wow! I didn't know fireworks displays were a Summer tradition in Japan, or anywhere to be honest. I'm just used to seeing them during some special holidays and, most typically, on New Year's Eve. I really wish I could go to Japan :)
