There are a staggering number of unusual shops in Akihabara, the center of otaku culture. In fact, at Akihabara Gachapon Kaikan, a lot of gachapon (capsule-vending machines) are set up. (In some places, the machine is called gashapon or gachagacha.)

This kind of gachapon exist in every country, and they usually sell cute toys! These always bring out the little kid, toy-aficionado in me ;)

You can see people from all age groups using these machines. There are thousands of characters in Japanese manga, anime, TV series etc., so there are loads of characters to collect.
