It was so hot and humid yesterday , and the summer has only just begun.

Wow, my family_in-law live in Toyama, which is right next to Takaoka, the town mentioned in the article. And I am really sorry for them. We actually spoke on skype and they didn't seem bothered that much - everything is air-conditioned, so it is alright.
But I remember my own experiences of Japanese heat and it is horrible. Because of the humidity, for me anything that is hotter than +30 Celcious was difficult and anything above +32 was simply unbarable. That is of course when you are outside, when you are in a air-conditioned space of an office, home or a car, you don't care.
So, to answer your question, no I am not ready for the Japanese Summer and to be honest, I have no idea what it is like to experience +37 in Japan.
It's terrible. I came form a warm country, but the humidity levels there were much lower. In my first summer, I lost my appetite, and lost sleep too. Spent most of the time indoors. Worst of all, it is hot and stuffy from around 4:30 in the morning, until late night.
And you are not that far from Toyama and Takaoka where there were record high 37 degrees Celcious just a few days ago!
