iPhone to replace Suica (transport tap-to-pay card) in Tokyo?

The Near Field Communication technology powering Apple’s mobile-payments service, Apple Pay, is prevalent in North America, Europe and Australia, but the FeliCa standard dominates Japan with a penetration of 1.9 million payment terminals, according to the Bank of Japan.

According to Bloomberg Apple is planning to itegrate iPhone with Sony's FeliCa chip to use as a payment method for transport in Japan.

That would be awesome. One device that can do anything. no more bulky wallet full of access card or membership payment card etc.
