I know it is a showcase marketing article from Google (the author of Tensor Flow framework) and it is very specialized subject which is not meant for general public. It is still fun and I couldn't help sharing it :)

It’s not hyperbole to say that use cases for machine learning and deep learning are only limited by our imaginations. About one year ago, a former embedded systems designer from the Japanese automobile industry named Makoto Koike started helping out at his parents’ cucumber farm, and was amazed by the amount of work it takes to sort cucumbers by size, shape, color and other attributes.

Excellent. There are are some machine learning systems used in machines for separating rice, etc., but those are expensive and are for the larger scale businesses.

I went to an edamame (type of bean that is a light snack) sorting and packing plant last month. They are smaller and the conveyor has lots of them coming at once, but I should try to do something with them.
