Any Japanese cities or attractions that you found boring?

While "boring" is subjective, it might be good to share our views about places that are either overhyped, or just boring even though it is easy to get to them.

Nagoya is my choice, and Tsukuba comes close if not for Mt. Tsukuba.

Any suggestions?

I'll never unsderstand the obsession with this billboard. I think it was a "first" a long time back, and then remained famous. The people in Osaka are more interesting, if you know some Japanese. They are much easier to talk to.

Yokohama is kind of boring, unless you get out to see Kamakura or Sakuragi-cho.

I had the opportunity 2 years ago for a one-day trip to Tsukuba from Tokyo, and actually enjoyed it ! There's a free access for exhibition and guided tour you need to book on at Tsukuba Space center, quite interesting for space/science nerd.

yeah, subjective topic for sure.

Once you've done with trying classic food, shrines and castles see-sighting, shopping, drinking, karaoke ect you may find A LOT of city boring.

But as every where around the planet you may be lucky to interact better with inhabitants and then everything can happen !

Osaka is boring :) It is just my personal opinion and I realize that it is not objective, but rather a result of a number of factors.

Let me explain, I only visited it once on the way from France to Toyama. I only got to spend one day there because I arrived on a plane and took a train in the evening. I only visited the castle of Osaka and the downtown, I was not really in the mood for sightseeing I was tired after 12 hours on the plane and wanted to get to my destination. I don't remember if it was Fall or Spring, but it was very grey and a little bit raining. So the weather didn't add any excitement to the trip.

Yeah, this is not an attitude to have while visiting a new city, but come on, one of the city's most prominent tourist attractions is a billboard for confectionery company :)

Tsukuba space center is really good! I just don't know how far it is from Tsukuba, because I went there on a bus tour and the bus went there directly without getting to the city. In the old days, there had been a free shuttle bus to Mt. Tsukuba from Tsukuba station :o(. I was too late for that!
