This has now become a trend; whenever there is a holiday or event of international level, huge crowds gather at Shibuya Crossroads and cheer.
It is kind of nice to have a place like that, but the only problem is that Shibuya Crossroads is not really designed for large crowds.
Police and nearby shops provided toilets and other facilities during the Halloween and New Year's eve. There is the worry about a terrorist incident, so there was more security everywhere.
Now that I have kids, I don't really go for countdowns. I would still like to go see the New Year's sunrise, though.
