In 1996, a subsidiary of Bandai Namco changed the world of gaming with the release of the Tamagotchi. In the years since, the small handheld digital pet has gone on to gain cult status among toy aficionados and collectors.

Now, the firm has re-released the legendary egg-shaped computer in its original format. According to Mashable, an updated version of the first edition has been put on sale again in Japan.
