Stupid Tourists?

What are things that foreign tourists should avoid doing, so that both locals and tourists can avoid problems?

There have been a few cases of very srtupid tourists, like those who vandalised Meiji Shrine (https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/news/20170413_32/) and another who tried to blow up Yasukuni Shrine's toilet (oh please, of all places, toilet?)

These are obvious no-no's, but what are the more subtle things that should be avoided?
