Japanese researchers have confirmed details of a large area of rare metal deposits in the seabed off eastern Japan.

Researchers from the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology, or JAMSTEC, conducted a robot survey of the deposit about 350 kilometers off Chiba Prefecture from April to May.

If this is commercially usable, that will help the industry here a lot. When it comes to rare metals, China is unpredictable and Australia is expensive.

Last I checked, China has its main focus on gold for some reason. I never understood why and I agree about Australia. I think it is because they just don't outsource many miners or have to pay people miles away to do it for them.
