WAJIMA, Ishikawa — A violin made using the Wajima lacquerware technique of Ishikawa Prefecture will enter the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, considered one of the world’s finest repositories of Japanese art.

Craftsman Hirochika Yatsui manufactured the violin and brought it to the U.S. museum in September, where it drew wide praise. The instrument will go on display as early as next year.
